I agree with the other postings that a heated humidifier is a necessity. If your doctor will not prescribe it at first watch for dryness symptoms and go back to the doctor if you have a problem. The symptoms could be such things as bloody crusting, pink nasal discharge, headaches or aching sinsus.

I am at 15 now and cannot imagine how difficult it would be to start at the pressure he is on. My doctor started me at 6 for two weeks, then 8, and about a month later I went to 15. If your husband has a problem adapting, you might suggest that the pressure be dropped back and increased over a period of a few weeks.

Suggest that he situp and watch TV or read with it to get comfortable and use to it.

Best wishes, it will make a big improvement in the quality of life. It takes determination and a "can do" attitude.
