John:

Where is your back hurting. CPAP pressure can push your spin out - and unless your back muscles are strong enough it can cause a disc to slightly move out - causing back pain.

In my case, my problem was in the upper back. I spent months doing upper back strenghtening excercises to eliminate the problem long term.

Short term was another issue. My back problems were not minnor. I ended up sleeping sitting straight up for a while, then reclined a bit, reclined a bit more, etc. It took about a year before I could sleep flat on my back again. (a bed-wedge may do the trick).

I also got a memory foam cover matress pad - what a difference (and I also had a new matterss and box spring). You don't have to buy the name brand one. I spent about $400 for a single bed sized 3" thick memory faom pad (and the pad was put over the bed wedges).

Hope this helps.

Perry
