Central sleep apnea begin suddenly?

Posted by snorky on August 17, 2001 at 20:51:29:

I think that I suffer of central sleep apnea. I'm only 23 years old, my weight is not to hight (6 feets, 155 pounds)
and I don't snore.
It's strange because my sleep apnea appears suddenly in a night (in march 2001). Before this night, my sleeping was always alright. Suddenly, I was UNABLE to sleep because I stop to breathe instantly when I fall asleep and I awake with a start about 30 sec. later. I sleep 3 hours/night during 3 weeks when a doctor give me Rivotril(or clonazepam). It erase the starts and it make me sleep but I begin to have heart problem (arythmia, tachycardia, slow pulse when i wake up in morning). Now I don't know if I should take Rivotril, sleep and have heart problem OR do not take Rivotril and do not sleep. I can't stop to sleep completely!!! But sleeping make me affraid of what it could append when i'm sleeping.

Do you know anyone how central sleep apnea can appear so suddenly and be so intense!!!!
Do you have any suggestions for me?

I have so much difficulty to convince the doctors that my problem is central sleep apnea. They are stuck on anxiety.

Sorry if I made errors in my messages. I speak french...
