It is not impossible to have CSA develop suddenly and in isoaltion. However, it is much more likely that you have OSA, or OSA with CSA.
This is not something that you can self diagnose. You have made the great step of realizing that you have a breathing type sleep disorder. The next step is to get to a sleep specialist and let them do the testing (a sleep study) to determing the type of problem you have.
For your information: About 10% of people with an Obstructive problem have some form of Central problems. However, most of those Central problems are treatable with CPAP the same treatment as for OSA. A few have "Non-CPAP responsive" CSA, and they are usually treated with a timed backup Bilevel PAP, or sometimes drug therapy.
Please, see a Sleep Dr to get the proper diagnoses and treatment.
