Jim - it's usually found as a combination of magnesium and malic acid. Within a few hours of the first time I took it, I experienced a noticeable improvement. It's a "short-term" fix. If I forget to take my Malic Acid for a day, or two, the creepy, tingly feeling comes back. Lots of people (me included) who have restless legs also suffer from fibromyalgia and have this complaint. In addition to checking out the RLS Forum, you might also benefit from checking out some of the fibromyalgia sites.
I order my Malic Acid on the 'net from one of the major vitamin suppliers. I tried a bunch of different brands, but the one that seems to work best for me is a brand that is identified as Magnesium Malate, 1250mg (yields 833mg of Malic Acid) has 360 tablets and costs about $20. I take one tablet at night and one in the morning. My understanding is that I'm at the low mid-range and that some people need 2 - 3X that dose. Of course you should always check with your physician before taking a new substance for your treatment. The wrong combination could cause a bad reaction.
