I agree with your definition of the problem and I believe that I agree with your solution however I an curious if you've ever submitted bill from independant dme to insurance company and what kind of success did you have with reimbursement? I would love to order what I want, pay for it and get reimbursed. The maze of paperwork, justification etc makes it almost impossible to get reimbursed & when you do, they take % of purchase price & cut it down ... dme starts high & then accepts 50% payment (even if it's higher than Joe's price or another discount dme)

After getting fed up with the billing department at my dme, I tried first one and then another local folks (one natonal) - they knew nothing about the product, were argumentative when I asked for a specific mask ... went back to original dme who has an outstanding individual who I deal with & I'll just hold my nose when I deal with their billing dept.

You're right - we should find out how to get reimbursed by insurance & choose our own!

Any suggestions?
