Thank you for your kind words.

Seriously, though, if it wasn't for the printouts from Mom's autoPAP, I think all her doctors would be ready to write off her dementia to her age. Having seen what I think is a definite pattern, I am not going to let them. I will not accept another cause for her dementia until she has gone 3 weeks in a row with an AHI < 5. If she is still a mess, then I will 'throw in the towel'

Since apnea appears to have a lot to do with muscle tone and seems to get more common with higher age, I can't help but wonder just how many older folks have it, but it is accepted by themselves or their doctors as a normal part of getting older. If I win the Powerball jackpot, I would love to finance a sleep study of all the dementia patients in a nursing home. Surely, they don't all have Sleep Apnea, but I think the percentage would be significant.

So, how does Grandma sleep? You can ask her, but she probably doesn't know and would probably say 'just fine', even if she has severe apnea. I'll assume since you have apnea you know what to look for. And if you do notice something, be prepared for the uphill battle trying to convince her doctors that you are right. Since I have already invented that wheel, I'd be glad to offer you tips.
