People tend to have less apnea on their sides than backs and even less on their stomachs. There are exceptions, I'm sure. I certainly sounds like your apnea is better on your stomach, but it may not be completely cured. A sleep study would tell for sure. You could also audio- or video- tape yourself. Be sure you can hear your normal breathing so you can tell if you stop breathing. Even if this shows no apneas, maybe you should still get a regular sleep study to be sure.
