I've found that for anything but the most routine charges it's a good idea to call the insurance company and get their comments on their payment policy in advance. Be sure you get the name of the person you spoke to. I personally would also send a registered letter of confirmation if there was the slightest chance that they might try to wiggle out of it later.
If you work in a big company with a benefits manager, you may be able to discuss this with that person and get them to do the legwork. I work for myself and pay my own insurance premiums so I guess I AM the benefits manager!
It seems like overkill I know, but the cost of CPAP, sleep studies, humidifiers, nasal sprays, and more can really add up to a lot of money. Check it out first!
