Hi Opher...

First of all, (*Jo wags her finger*) there is NO such thing as "ignorance" here!! We're all learning together, and from each other, every day! :)

I clean Duncan's hoses once a week - Duncan is my bi-PAP; I also clean the dense black sponge filter in the back of my Nellcor Puritan-Bennett bi-PAP and all components of my Fisher-Paykel heated humidifier (it disassembles and can be put in the dishwasher). The vinegar rinse removes any lingering soap residue (which, perhaps, could hold bacteria?) and leaves everything smelling as clean and crisp as the inside of a pickle jar! *grin*

I haven't done any research on antibac soap but I do credit my cleaning regime with the fact that I've not had a cold or any upper respiratory infection since beginning bi-PAP therapy nine months ago. Then again, perhaps it's just Seattle's "liquid sunshine" that keeps me healthy!
*grin*

Jo
