The results are in...

....and, guess what? Hubby has a diagnosis of moderate to severe sleep apnea. I had to pitch a hissy fit with the sleep lab people to finally fax the report to the PCP. After 3 weeks, they still hadn't sent it and, when I called yesterday, I was told that it would be another week to week and a half until it would be sent. I went ballistic and told them that this was absolutely unacceptable and that they were dealing with serious health issues that should be addressed immediately. I then insisted that the report be faxed to the doctor at once. The person I spoke with acted as if this were a newfangled method of communication which she had never heard of.

The doctor called my husband at work and told him that he had 31 episodes per hour, but claimed that there was no report on the level of oxygen desaturation. I asked him if the tech had attached the doohickey onto his finger (pulse oximeter??) and he told me that it was put on. I'm wondering if the results got messed up somehow and this was the cause of the delay. Naturally, hubby forgot to ask for a copy of the report, but will do so on Friday. I want to see the breakdown of events and the total for the lenght of the sleep study. The PCP told hubby to call the sleep lab to make an appointment for the titration and didn't seem too
involved with the whole issue. This is why this person is now our FORMER PCP. Although we have both seen the new PCP, I was waiting until we got the test results back to request that our records be sent to the new doc.

The upshot of all this is that at least now, I can prove what I have long suspected to be the truth and my guy can get this very serious impediment to his health treated appropriately. I can just see the Christmas card photo now: beautifully decorated tree, fire burning in the hearth, two hoseheads hooked up with visions of sugarplums dancing in their heads.......LOL
