Yes.. especially if you have air-conditioning.. should use some form of humidification... I have a passaover oasis humidfier.. and I heat my water in the winter.. but in the summer.. I just put the distilled water in the humidifier.. and get some humidity.. doing this.. at least I am not using the CPAP totally with no water.. that would be too dry for my nose... also you can use a saline spray at night before bed.. and that will help..
As far as the ear aches.. my pressure is low.. and I have the earache at times.. the next day.. I think I might being swollowing alot during the night.. causing a presure in my ears.. each time you swallow you feel it in your ears.. and if you have a lot of sinus problems in the summer.. this will bring on more swallowing for there is more drainage.. in the sinuses..during this allergy time.. that is the only conclusion that I came up with as to why my ears hurt... sometimes it is one ear..and sometimes it is both ears.. hope i have helped some..!!
