Hi AJ,

I want to add my "HANG IN THERE" to those who have posted before me.

There are a lot of us here who have had similar problems. Sleep apnea can make a mess of our lives, and will continue to do so, if left untreated. When you get treated, you will be on your way to a better life!!

Don't worry about getting your titration so soon. It is great that your lab was able to get you in. My titration was the next night, because they had an opening, but some people are forced to wait for weeks or months for their titration and then more time passes before they can get to their doctor.

While apnea can cause or aggravate depression, you should wait until you have been treated for some time before you start working with your doctor to adjust your medications. It may take a number of months to pay back your sleep debt (for all those years you have not slept enough) and for you to get everything tweaked just right. But don't think you won't be feeling better during this time, you will!!! I have been feeling better and better all along during my treatment (since Feb), and for the last couple months, I can say that I am starting to feel really good. It is well worth it.

As for your job, there have been a number of discussions in the past on whether it is good to tell your employer. Only you know what your boss is like, but you might consider letting him know about your medical problem and that you are seeking treatment for it. I told my boss and am glad that I did. I was able to explain how OSA affects my productivity (from just being "out of it" to memory and concentration problems) and I think he appreciated that I was doing my best and that I was taking positive steps to correct the problem. (It also explained that "drugged" look that I had-- that went away almost immediately after starting CPAP.)

So again: HANG IN THERE!!!! We are here to help if you need us.

Pam
