AJ
Take a deep breath, close your eyes and know that you will get through this and once you've struggled your way through the "adjustment period" as all of us have, picture yourself happy and full of energy and able to function normally once more!!!
I was never diagnosed with depression but as the "fog of sleep apnea" descended, I started to exhibit many of the symptoms and called a relative who is a Psychologist and had several chats with him about this and he suggested that if the treatment for the sleep disorders didn't reduce or improve the symptoms of depression, that I should have that checked out also.
After the long battle to move forward with my treatment, (I hadn't found this forum at the time or I would have saved a year of my life "out of the fog")I finally found this forum, decided that if I was to get better, I had to get treatment immediately as I was becoming more and more depressed and non functional.
Just when I thought that maybe this CPAP treatment would never work, I started to notice rapid improvements and a return to my former self.
Check out some of my other posting by doing a search on this sight under "tracker" and you can see that some additional info on "my story" and we all hope that by sharing and supporting each other with information and insights we will all have the benefit of knowing that we are not alone.
My symptoms of depression have almost disappeared with only occasional short bouts which have been becoming less and less frequent since I have been on the CPAP. By the way, my relative had never heard of the possible link between sleep apnea and depression but was very informed about the condition in general and knew a little about CPAPs, so in my own case had I gone in for the depression symptoms, I might be on meds and still not have my apnea being treated!! He is now fully informed and letting others in the profession know as well!
I definately recommend that once you get well on your way with the CPAP that you start checking in with the MD who diagnosed the depression to discuss the possible adjustment of your meds while monitoring the effects.
Ditto to the "HANG IN THERE" messages, most of us have been there, some not as severe but most know what your going through.
I hate cliches but things do happen for a reason and we often don't see it until years later.
Your speedy treatment is a real blessing as already mentioned by others.
All our thoughts and prayers are with you.
All the best
