It's just heart breaking to hear of such situations. OSA diagnosis is so new, that many doctors only know what they have heard in the media. They assume that all OSA patients are obese, middle aged men who snore loudly. Not so! Studies show that 40% of OSA patients are normal weight or below.

That being said, I would like to make a suggestion. Get a copies of your sleep study and send that doctor a copy too. Write him a polite business type letter explaining the situation and how you feel after you start CPAP. If you write a diatribe about how lousy a doctor he is (he may be) he may just write you off as a hysterical patient. Hopefully he will learn and consider OSA in future patients. If he is a good doctor he will learn from his mistakes. Yes, they do make lots of them.

I am glad to hear you have a diagnosis and can get on the road to recovery. There will be small hurdles along the way, but this forum can help with most of them. I know I have been given a new life since starting CPAP 10 months ago!
