MMR vaccine and autism - Introduction

Autism - Introduction to Posts

On March 30,2001 a letter was sent to Chest, a medical journal. The subject was the role of sleep related breathing disorders in nocturnal gastroesophageal reflux. The electronic version should be available around September 12, while the hard copy will be out in the middle of October. Four submissions have been rejected and three others are pending.

Last week I told one of my sons about a diatribe. A member of the medical profession railed against the parents of autistic children and the professional felt that the parents were being too critical. Children had developed autism in close temporal proximity to receiving MMR vaccine. A U.S. congressman who had a autistic grandchild ordered an investigation. One of those who appeared stated that the MMR vaccine did not cause all cases of autism. I agree, but MMR vaccine, in my opinion, can cause autism. The mechanism by which MMR vaccine causes autism involves, guess what, obstructive sleep apnea, the cause of autism. I do not like the thought of waiting months for the autism letter to be published. (One of the rejected letters was on autism. It did not have the information which was developed during Labor Day week.) I thought of the autistic patients who could have an improved quality of life during the period of time it would take to get published, if it ever did get published. I could post the information on my web site, but that would take both extra work and extra time and it would not receive the exposure that it would have on ‘sleepnet’.

Please read the postings in order because the early posts provide foundation for the later ones. Please read as you would read a medical journal. While being critical, also evaluate the posts for plausibility.

If this material is used please cite the Chest medical journal as the source for the reflux information. For all other information “sleepnet.com and the post number” should be cited. Please do not use the information for profit.
