Hi Pam, I can really relate with your comments. I too have felt the distance you speak of, that is until I found out that a friend has (I hope not "had") a brother who works in the WTC. This really began to bring it home to me. At last nights prayer service it began to sink in further.
I can also somewhat relate to your feelings of having them in your community. I was living in Waco during the Dividian disaster.

Have strength. As you realize, its the diversity of this country that makes us strong. Unfortunately our freedom opens us up to the exact situation you described, but it is our freedom also makes us that much stronger.

Your last paragraph is something we all really need to keep in our hearts. Here in the Dallas area, Islamic temples have been shot up and threats have been made. These people had nothing to do with the attacks of this week and absolutely oppose what was done and why. While my beliefs are vastly different from theirs, I must recognize that our constitution protects their right to their religious beliefs. They have their rights and they believe in and support this country. We have an obligation to stand by and protect them now from the idiots we have within.

Grace and Peace. Encourage the kids and tell your husband I'm sorry about his business associate.
