I want to clarify my comments in my first paragragh. I don't mean to suggest that increased, more thorough security measures are not needed. I just don't want to lay the complete blame at the government. I feel they have given us just what we asked for and not more than what we were willing tolerate at that time.

As for the armed guards, I feel that specially trained plain clothes guards are appropriate. Armed, yes. With guns, no. While I am a strong proponent of guns, they have no place on planes. I don't want to limit the effectiveness of the guards, but being trained to overcome an armed hijacker without extra bullets flying around inside an airplane should be the goal. I feel the guards should work in teams.
