If it is your front teeth that are sore, it is possible that your tongue is pressing against the backs of your front teeth in its effort to keep air from escaping your mouth. I have experienced this kind of sore teeth on occasion.

Before you fall asleep, take note of where your tongue is. I somtimes have to concentrate on holding my tongue against the roof of my mouth but back away from my teeth.
