periodically, while watching tv or reading a book, put just your mask on and just try to relax with whatever you're doing. This will allow you to gradually get used to the mask without the pressure of needing to get to sleep while fighting with this fear. If your anything like my wife, you're constantly busy. If so, stop. Sit down and start getting used to the mask. It may take some time, but once you see that you can breathe through it you will start relaxing. Also, some people do this while hooked up to their machine and it is running.
