I have to agree with what others have said reagrding colds and CPAP. Since beginning on CPAP last February I have experienced far less difficulty in recovering from colds than before I began using it. As a teacher, colds are an occupational hazard and I would usually count on having at least two or three doozies every winter and spring. This year, however, while I did get the sniffles a couple of times,I recovered after only a day or two of relatively minor symptoms as opposed to my usual two to three weeks of coughing-sneezing-feeling-like-you-want-to crawl-into-bed-and-stay there-forever type symptoms. Last week I began to experience the first cold of the new academic year and, because I happened to have a day off, I went back to bed with my CPAP and heated humidifier and took a two hour nap. When I woke up, most of the nasal congestion was gone, and by the next day the cold was history. Believe me, there is nothing worse than trying to hold the attention of 25 antsy kids for six and a half hours when you feel like crud.

An added benefit was with my allergies. I have problems in the Spring with grasses, molds and trees. I usually have a couple of weeks of hell each year. This year, however, even though most everyone I knew was absolutely miserable ( even those who usually don't have allergies), I had almost no problems. I could sleep through the night and wake up raring to go (or at least as close to "raring" as my aging body gets, LOL).

One thing that has occurred to me is that maybe because I am getting a beter quality of sleep every night, my resistance to nasty germs is better, therefore, when I am exposed to colds/flu etc. I am better able to fight them off. Whatever the reason, I'll take it quite happily, thank you.
