I have never been on a cruise or big ship, but I think the process they use to convert seawater to potable water yields a pretty good product. Any old salts out there that know for sure? Sounds like you had no trouble with bottled water. So far I have only used distilled water from the grocery store in my humidifier with good results. I'm not so sure it always really is distilled, or what passes for commercial distilled water, but I think I would do without if I had to use my city water. It seems to have improved in recent years, but it wasn't so long ago that it was so loaded with minerals that clothes would come out of the wash with streaks and stains, the dishes came out of the dishwasher looking worse than they went in, and the insides of the toilet tanks turned black. All the water did there was just sit there.
