Posted by Anna South on October 30, 2001 at 07:02:17:I have been using cpap for about a month for "moderate" sleep apnea--something I did NOT have for years. I am an elderly person, had cancer surgery 2 1/2 years ago, followed by radiation and chemotherapy--now on an anti-cancer drug and other medications. The fatigue from the chemo, etc., never left me, though it should have by now--last spring a cardiologist suggested I might have sleep apnea--took seven months to get tests, see specialist, etc. before I got the cpap. Condition may well have something to do with all the meds I have to take. Anyway, I have no problem sleeping 5-6 hours straight with cpap (I am not claustrophobic, which helps, I suppose)--only physical problem has been abrasians on nose--just got a new mask which is somewhat better. BUT--cpap has done me no good--on the contrary, some days it seems to make me worse--absolutely exhausted and fall asleep (nodding off) even more than usual during day. Neither specialist or technician ever heard of this before. They want me to keep trying, but it seems rather useless, as I am "compliant" in other respects. Anyone else had this problem? Anna South
