I think that the vast majority of connections that posters make between Sleep Apnea and their other symptoms are pure coincidence, or at best unknown. They are examples of a common fallacy in logic known for centuries. The technical term for it is post hoc ergo propter hoc (after this therefore because of this). It is assumed that because one thing follows another that the one thing was caused by the other. But this is flawed reasoning and cannot be used to prove a result in, say, a scientific experiment (or in an argument, for that matter).

For example, while numbness in the feet may or may not be related to OSA, it is known to be related to diabetes, chronic alcohol abuse, vascular diseases, bone disorders, and ... ill-fitting or tight shoes.

I have several chronic illnesses myself, but I have no conclusive scientific evidence that Sleep Apnea actually caused any of them, although I do know from medical studies that some of them are made worse as a result of OSA.

I just treat them all, including OSA, and hope I can survive for a while longer. I don't think I would do anything different if I knew that one disease was caused by OSA.

But everyone knows I am bonkers.
