New CPAP User - Blissful But Apprehensive

Posted by PaleBlueDot on November 12, 2001 at 18:12:43:

I am 35 years old. Two weeks ago I had a sleep study. I stopped breathing 60 times per hour, had no REM sleep and an oxygen level of 80%. I understand this is a moderate to severe OSA condition.

Prior to this my world had fallen apart. I had been undergoing treatment for severe depression and anxiety. But I continued slipping into a greater darkness. I had to quit work and my wife and kids have left.

I have been using my CPAP for two nights. This has resulted in the most profound experience of my life. I have gone from a feeling of suicidal despair and hopelessness to an unrestrained euphoric lust for life.

The change for me is so sudden and intense, I fear it is not real. Can such an abrupt metamorphosis be actual and lasting? Can I try putting my life back together or are the lights going to go out again?
