The AuotAdjust LT is the one machine that I believe does not actually require a perscription in the USA for the software because Sunrise Medical did not list the software as a perscription device when they filed for FDA approval for the machine (and accessories).

However, most DME's will require such a perscription as a standard procedure (and you are not likely to win the argument with most DME's, but their are a few...), and it is clearly good practice to get your Dr involved anyway. So ask for the perscription, which then serves to protect you. (Note: the AutoSet T, and Goodknight 418 series does require a perscription due to their FDA filings and approvals).

Concerning Windows ME. You should be OK. Sunrise Medical has been great on upgrades to resolve issues like that.
