Mirage Temporary Full Face Mask??

Posted by Thumper on November 13, 2001 at 23:07:25:

I recently tried switching to a full face mask due to air loss from my lips. Tired of taping and all that and it just wasn't working very well. I was given what is called a Temporary or Single Use Mirage Full Face Mask for 1/4 the cost of the regular one. I have looked at the two side by side and they are identical except for one thing - mine has the air vent holes drilled right into the plastic of the mask, instead of having the replaceable silicone air vent. The mask is VERY noisy from the sound of the air rushing out these holes and I find it difficult to fall asleep just from the sound.

Has anyone tried this mask and had success with it? The other is so expensive I hesitate to buy it and find little difference, or find I still can't get it to seal.

I also had trouble with the headset that came with it. Although it is a very nice headset with solid material, the back of the headset is overlapped with this emergency cord in the middle and it hurts the back of my head when laying on my back. I tried switching to a Tiara headset that I bought a year ago and didn't like with my other mask. This one has a kind of cap on the top of the head and holds the nose part of the mask up at a higher angle than the other. What I've found is that it pulls the mask up my nose during the night even after adjusting and relaxing various straps. This causes more leaks at the top during the night.

I am getting so tired I really can't take it anymore as I'm only getting a couple of hours a night. Any ideas or suggestions would really be appreciated.
