Hi Keith,
What you are experiencing may be tinnitis. Is it kind of like putting a shell up to your ear to "hear the ocean?" My ear doctor gave me some exercises to do that eliminated this. Talk to your doctor about it or make an appt with an ear specialist. Good luck and keep us posted!
