There are some machines RemStar Plus (at least in Aus) that have 12vDC input. Others are designed for truck drivers like the Goodnight 418G & P and run on 24vDC. You can get inverters that will run from your cigarette lighter (but not all machines are rated to work on inverters).
But this isn't solving the problem, it's just coping with the symptoms. The real issue is why you're falling asleep again. If you think you've given it enough time at 14cm to have gotten used to it by now, I'd be going back to the Doc or whoever else you see about investigating further.
The suggestion that was made of going back to say 11cm for a while sounds like a logical one to me. Think of it like a really, really long "ramp" time (entire sleep sessions over a period of weeks, rather than minutes at the begining of a single sleep session) to allow you to adjust to 14cm.
