Cindy,
My epiphany on HMOs came earlier this year when I was really sick with a chest infection and getting rapidly worse by the hour, and I am on the phone with the people who make appointments, never mind trying to get a doctor and nurse, and finally having to raise my voice and say, "What don't you understand about the fact that I am sick NOW? I am sick in real time, not sick next week."

I am sure doctors find themselves in a bind working for these HMOs, but there is a point when they become human medical engineers and not doctors deserving of a special prefix to their names.
