I have had these several times in my life. They are gross looking, but not a big problem in of themselves. They may, however, indicate a bigger problem as the previous poster stated--like hypertension or overuse of meds that cause bleeding (Advil, ibuprophen, Aleve, naproxen, aspirin, etc.).
