Well, since you've already sought professional advice, I'll tell you that if your mask seal leaks and allows the air under pressure to blow into the corner of your eye, you'll wake up with these little puppies from time to time. Fortunately, my wife worked for an eye doctor the first time it happened to me, and he checked my eye and told me that the condition is only temporary and could happen again.
The moral of the story: When your mask leaks, adjust it!
