The fastest way to tell is to get a hold of a bipap with a timer. Try the Autoset for awhile, a week is enough. If you still have problems, and they go away with a timed bipap, you have your answer. Complicated, that is not the half of it. I went through 3 titrations before they figured it out, and I was at one of the best places in the country. They had a doc and 2 techs rushing into my room as I was ripping off the mask after a 60 second central that didn't occur until I was an hour and a half into the test. From there on, I caused the timer to trigger all night. You might say I got my dx by default. I had struggled with the Autoset for 5 months by then. So now I make it through the night with the bipap s/t aided by a couple of sleep meds, but have not had one of those great days in some months. You will have an easier time of it because I am just difficult to begin with and should have behaved better in a previous live.
