Posted by sleepysandy on November 24, 2001 at 14:19:07:Next week I have my second echocardiogram to determine if treating the sleep apnea for three months has reduced the pulmonary pressures. I thank all of you for helping me to achieve compliance (especially when mask, humidifier, and autopap seemed determine to undermine me!!!) Some things you have taught me: patience, patience, patience...and read this forum. I've even tried to help other newbies- sort of a 12 step program for sleep apneacs. I have the mirage FF mask and plan to get the newer version. I also have the breeze pillows. Got the heated humidfier (what a difference)by stretching the truth with my Dr (mea culpa) but otherwise they wont give it to you so I felt a little lying was OK.
My mouth breathing has almost been eliminated by the heated hu;midifier- thanks to Reno Tom for your insights. The autoset T seems to be doing OK by me - my pressure is 8 most of the time so my Dr will probably send me back to the CPAP. I'm sleeping 3-4 hours at a time. Wake up to adjust mask and back to sleep. I'm no longer tired during the day-which is good because I teach seventh grade math.
Still have a ways to go but I've got great company. Thanks again.
