Having hair almost waist length, I was troubled at first with hat hair and velcro stick. I have always used any of the regular velcro strap types but I throw my hair upward (or bend my head down, sometimes a ponytail hold helps), put on the headgear thing, then sleep with my hair upward on my pillow. If the strappy thing has a part that comes across the top of my head, I just put all my hair off to one of the sides. Basically, afterward, I look like "Thing" from the Munsters. But hey, it's been working fine for me.
