Thanks to eveyone for all the advice. Also - by the way - I meant to say I have a tough time keeping my mouth CLOSED with the nasal mask.

I have been using Ambien to try to fall asleep with the CPAP machine, and tonight will be my third night. It has actually not been that bad - I really have had more problems wiht the hose thatn the mask - it just seems to never be in the right place. Plus, for some reason, I get a buildup of water at the bottom of the mask, which sort of wakes me up as it feel irritating. Finally, I was awake quite a bit last night because I thought the machine had gone off - it runs almost too quite - and the mask kept making hissing noises that would change - but I don't think it was a leak. I have not ben forcing myself to kep the thing on all night - if it gets too annoying or is keeping me up terribly bad, then I just take it off. I am doing this in hopes that as I get used ot it, I will go longer and longer, eventually going all night. I probably can't judge, or expect anything good, until I get to that point. As of now, I am keeping it on for 2-3 hours or so.

Anyway - I don't feel any better, but the good news is I don't feel any worse. I am going to try to get a full face mask tomorrow to take with me to CA on a busniness trip this week.

Thanks again for all the follow-up - I'll let you know how things progress or post a follow-up question if one arises.

Chuck
