On some of my genealogy sites i regularly give out one of my email addresses and even my name.I have never had any serious problems with it so far.One fellow who shares a distant relative with me knew my genealogy going back to early 1600's knew my dead wifes life history etc. I have never revealed any of that on line.The point is the data is their on us if you know where to dig for it whether you published it or not.If its in public records its avalable to anybody.
