Apnea & cataplexy?

Posted by Miss Duffy on December 06, 2001 at 19:10:39:

Hi everyone,

Is it possible to have cataplexy type muscle weakness symptoms with just OSA and not narcolepsy. I do not have any other particular symptoms of narcolepsy and my daytime sleepiness and gotten much better with C-Pap. I am just trying to investigate all possibilities before seeing a neuromuscular disorders specialist next week. I did not have this muscle weakness before C-Pap and was on C-Pap for 5 months before this started. Arthritis, nerve damage, and autoimmune disorders have been ruled out thus far. I do have Thoracic Outlet Syndrome and the numbness and pain are getting better with physical therapy. However, weakness remains and the problem is currently affecting my legs as well as my arms and hands. Any input on this is appreciated! Thanks!
