A study done at University of Michigan last year or year before found that apnea and epilepsy seem connected. It is known that sleep deprivation can bring on seizures and can exacerbate a seizure disorder.I have severe OSA and have also been diagnosed with temporal lobe epilepsy; a different doctor diagnosed me with absence. The most recent neurologist I saw said she thought it was all due to the apnea. I have read in various places that with treatment of the apnea, the seizure disorder sometimes clears up. Once you guys are stabilized on CPAP, you might ask your doctor to let you have a trial off of your anti-seizure medications to see if you can remain seizure free.
Good luck!
(By the way; it all sounds very familiar: deja vu, jamais vu, the twilight zone, strangers look familiar and friends look strange, no sense of time or space, and sometimes everything seems suddenly very big or very small, like using binocs, and then the sudden sense that something terrible is about to happen, with the sinking tummy/nausea stuff. I definitely see a connection with the apnea and how well it's being managed.)
