There are 2 tubes that could do the job.

An intubation tube is run into the mouth, through the throat and into the airway. I've never had it done, but it is rumored to be quite painful and not the sort of thing that you could do to yourself evry night before you went to bed.

A trach tube requires surgery (they cut your skin, etc.) A hole is cut in your throat and the trach tube connects your trachea (windpipe) directly to outside air. As far as I know, it is absolutely perfect in controlling OSA. You can still have a central apnea, but you just can't have an obstructive one. Some major risks are infection at the incision site and infection of the lungs since the air isn't getting filtered anymore.

Trach tubes were the only form of treatment for OSA before the invention of CPAP in 1981. There are many other types of surgery now, though.
