Hi guys,

Over here in New Zealand our government funds the use of cpap machines. What happens is if they hospital do the sleep studies and find you need a cpap machine is that they provide it to you on permanent loan. They provide you with everything initially, but then as any of the headset gear, or water canister, or hose needs replacing, then youre responsible for that cost. The machine goes into the hospital bio-engineering for testing twice a year as well. You take it in, but it doesnt cost anything because the machine still belongs to them type thing. We have a public funded health system, and the reason they do this with the cpap machines is because studies have shown that low oxygen levels lead to serious health problems which end up costing them lots of money, and so its better to spend this money now, than to have to spend much more later on. When i didnt think the cpap machine was doing me much good, i was told that even if i wasnt feeling much better, i would still have to stay on it because my oxygen levels were only 70% during the sleep study. As it is now though, i had another sleep study and they found i was still snoring and snuffling a bit, and so theyve increased the pressure from 13.5 to 14. About a week before this happened though, i started feeling significantly better. I can feel my brain starting to work better again, my thinking has become easier, my recall has improved, my energy levels are higher. This last week i have spent 3 days getting up at 3am, starting work at 4am, and working to 4.30pm, 5.30pm and 7.45pm. I was knackered, but after a sleep i felt pretty good again. I could never have done that before.

Things are really looking up, yay! I now have a fulltime casual job and am feeling much more positive about things, YAY! Now i just have to get these pimples sorted out, :oP.

Merry Xmas Everyone!!
Cheers!
katie
