Mixed apnea and Ultra-mirage mask questions

Posted by Beeper on December 20, 2001 at 08:45:59:

I was diagnosed by a home test with pulse-ox and cannula with an apnea index of 51.2 and RDI of 76.7 (in 240 minutes, 205 apneas and 102 hypopneas) and an interpretation of severe sleep apnea. My doctor then sent me for an overnight sleep study and the split night report diagnosed Mixed, predominantly Obstructive Sleep Apnea/Hypopnea Syndrome, moderate degree. The summary said in 298 minutes I had 43 central apneas, 8 obstructive apneas, and 1 mixed apnea with an apnea index of 8, hypopnea index of .2 and and RDI total of 8.2. Do these two tests jibe?
Can someone address central and mixed apnea?
I have been sleeping for the last 6 weeks with an ultramirage mask and a pressure of 5cm H20 but I haven't found a change in my degree of tiredness and my face looks terribly haggard since I started sleeping with the C-PAP, puffy, droopy bags. Has this happened to anyone else? Thanx
