I have mixed apnea and was a near dead man 10 years ago due to it.

The trach tube stopped the obstructive apnea immediately.

The central remains as bad as it ever was.

I use a vent with oxygen attached to the trach tube.

I have been apnea free for several years using this arrangement.

There has never been an infection and I do have an artificial nose to use if I need it but never have found that I need it to filter air.

There have been several surgeries over the years and being intubatd can be the source of some difficulties.

I had two surgeries last month and the head anesthesiologist decided to use my own vent attached to my trach tube for both trips to the OR. I woke up in post op with my vent still attached, taken to my room still attached and slept like a baby.

No troubles at all.

I bless the trach and all its' attachments. Since having the trach, it has made all surgery easier on my body than without it.
