My oldest daughter had an intubation tube installed in her throat a couple of months ago for surgery. The end result was she loss the use of her vocal cords for those few months and the vocal cords have finally started to work again. It not only affeted her speech but also she had to be extremely careful how she ate or even drank water in order to keep it out of her lungs.
