Posted by Sleepless in Seattle on December 20, 2001 at 10:57:29:My doctor managed to get ahold of an Oracle mask for me even though it is not yet on the market, and they do not know when it will be. It is a very interesting device that goes in your mouth rather than your nose. It does not require a special dental appliance made especially for you. I have had some problems with it at my pressure which is 15/12, so I have not been using it regularly. I plan to take it to my sleep test in January and try it at lower pressures and see how it works. Since I am having a vicious bout of insomnia I can't risk messing with a new mask right now. The reason I am telling you about this is, my doctor says that having the air enter your mouth instead of your nose allows you to use a lower pressure to keep your apneas at bay. This is significant to me because my pressure is supposed to be 22/19 and I cannot tolerate the side effects. Anyway, I don't know if people are aware that this device will be coming on the market.
