The lab study would better differentiate central and obstructive, to do this the straps around your chest will havemeasured your breathign effort. In an obstructive apnea you make breathing effort, in a central apnea you make nobreathing effort, in a mixed for some of the time no breathing effort is made, for the balance of the time some breathing effort is made.
