O2 is sometimes used with pap in the range of about 1 to 5 liters per minute. It helps keep a constant O2 sat which helps keep a regular heartbeat therefor eliminating stimulation and awakenings, and it helps stabilize "brain waves", among other things. It will not replace pap.
