New to C-PAP (Bronchitis)

Posted by The Chorus on January 02, 2002 at 05:53:29:

Morning.

I am new to the C-PAP World. I've had 2 sleep tests to determine I needed a sleeping aid. I now sleep with a C-PAP Machine with heated humidifier. I am generally a light sleeper, however the machine seems to help me sleep more soundly. I know once I get used to it, I will probably sleep through the night. I have a couple of questions:

1. I have bronchitis as of this morning, and have not slept with the C-PAP machine the last 2 nights, thinking that the heated humidity would only "cloud" my lungs even further. Is this a correct assumption?

2. Sometimes the moisture (I guess from the heated humidity) seems to accumulate in the mask, and I'm afraid of inhaling this. The heat setting I'm using is something like 2 out of 6. Is this a common fear for C-PAP users? or am I over-worrying?

3. I have dry mouth usually upon waking. Is this normal?

Thank you in advance for anyone who answers.
