POLL

Posted by BB on January 02, 2002 at 07:25:15:

Diagnosis with apnea 7 years ago. I believe that I had it many years before that. Went to Dr. because I was falling a sleep during the day and evening, snoring really loud and just feeling terrible. Have been checked several times since then and my setting is always 8 or 9 cm. Went for my last check one year ago, because I was feeling bad with no energy and sleepy during the day. Again my setting was 8 cm with restless legs. A MLST was also conducted; but found to be only mildly narco. At the same time my primary doctor had heart, somach and lungs tests conducted including an MRI of the brain to rule out other causes. The MRI was done because my ability to smell and what things smelled like have changed considerably over the past year. I am now on 8 cm, one pill in the morning for daytime sleepiness and one at nite for restless legs. I should point out it is not my leggs or feet; but my ankles that are restless. I feel so so now. I am agitated and tense all the time.

I hope all of the above adds to the poll that someone whose name or line I have forgotten, is taking. I should point out that I do have short term memory loss and over weight by 100#. I believe that CPAP is only a stopgap solution and a lot of research needs to be done to find a permanent solution. I believe that the problem is becoming more common and our society becomes fatter and do less exercise.
