Just what we need, a CPAP conspiracy theory!
If you study the workings of the airway, and understand NPAP and just a little of the cooling and drying effects of moving air, it is easy to understand the negative impacts NPAP can have on some people.
This is why heated humidifiers were adopted for NPAP use in the first place.
I have written many posts on this subject describing the mechanics of what goes on, and further describing the reason heated humidification mitigates the negative effects NPAP has on many (but not all) patients. In fact for many of us the use of heated humidification with NPAP therapy has resulted in a much healthier respiratory system.
I fear that your pulmonary doctor has done a diservice to you and others if he has not provided a better understanding of the subject than what you have demonstrated. CPAP is the most effective therapy available for a very insidious condition that can have horrific consequences if left untreated. No it is not perfect, and yes it has some negative consequences for some people, but it is far from the menace you have described.
Please take the time to research the workings of the human airway, the workings and effects of heated humidification in confunction with NPAP therapy, read some of the research information available, and put to use what you can to make things work better for you.
Yes, for some NPAP is far from the perfect world. And for some with pre existing conditions, NPAP can make it worse, but your blanket statement is not justified.
